Clean lines, elegance and off-white tones are the key trends this season. This week, we take our tone-on-tone cues from Angelina Jolie’s character in The Tourist. Further, as part of our Famous Personal Stylists community we have revealed the secrets behind her wardrobe in the film while re-creating one of her most glamourous looks.
The Fashion Muse
Angelina Jolie channels classic elegance in her role in The Tourist (2010). Jolie stars as Elise, the beautiful mistress of a mafia money-man who has been followed by the police. Her extraordinary and mysterious character is accompanied by a ‘femme fatale’ wardrobe. One of Angelina’s best looks is the opening outfit of the movie you can see here. Elise wears a sheath dress in camel and clotted creams, matched with gloves and a wrap at a Parisian café when she reads a letter telling her to take the train to Venice and pick a man (Jonny Depp).
“Jolie’s distinctive style in The Tourist is the epitome of minimalist elegance. Her wardrobe in the movie is a dream for every woman who enjoys sharp tailoring and timeless classics.”

All costumes of Elise – the character portrayed by Angelina Jolie, were designed especially for her by Colleen Atwood. The inspiration is Hitchcock’s movies and minimalist elegance. All of Jolie’s clothes in the film were made by hand with one exception: a vintage 1950s Charles James grey dress. Another top clothing in the movie is the classic tailored black suit matched with a pearl necklace and sunglasses.
